The Cancer Centers of Saint Barnabas Medical Center Livingston, N.J. -- According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 6,000 New Jersey men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Several factors can increase the risk of a man developing prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, excluding skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in men. The Cancer Centers of Saint Barnabas Medical Center will sponsor its 18th Annual Prostate Cancer Symposium on September 15, 2009. The evening is an opportunity for prostate cancer patients and their families to hear from medical experts regarding current topics in the treatment of prostate cancer. Topics will include: Program: Robotics and Beyond, What’s New in Radiation Oncology and Moving Prostate Cancer Treatment into the 21st Century. Ample time will be allowed for questions. A light dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the presentation will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Islami Auditorium at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, 94 Old Short Hills Road in Livingston. The event is free, but pre-registration is required by calling (973) 322-2668 by September 2. Free parking will be available in the main visitors’ lot.
