Livingston, N.J. -- The Third Annual Walk For Health…Journey to a healthy lifestyle will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Livingston Mall, 112 Eisenhower Parkway, Livingston, NJ. It will benefit programs and Bariatric, Cardiac, Joint Replacement and Stroke services at Saint Barnabas Medical Center (SBMC) and Ambulatory Care Center (SBACC). Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the walk following at 9 a.m.

Walk For Health…Journey to a healthy lifestyle is not an endurance walk but one for fun and for health. Participants walk at their own pace and as far as they want to walk. Whether it is one lap around the mall or 10 laps, this walk is to recognize every person’s health journey, their accomplishments and the milestones that they have achieved.

“We created this walk to help celebrate the new journey and healthier lifestyle that so many of our patients begin after being hospitalized,” explains John F. Bonamo, M.D., M.S., Executive Director at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. “Walk for Health truly reinforces Saint Barnabas’ commitment to encourage our patients and the community to live healthy, exercise and maintain a balanced diet.”

The walk is a family-focused event with a Wellness Village, face painting and a DJ. The Wellness Village will include wellness stations, health food and beverages, nutrition advice, cooking tips, personal training tips and much, much more.

Registration costs $20 for the public and $10 for employees of Saint Barnabas Health Care System. Pledges beyond registration are encouraged.  Registration forms can be obtained at Livingston Mall, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center or by emailing walkforhealth@sbhcs.com. Register online at saintbarnabasfoundation.org.
