Saint Barnabas Medical Center Mobil Intensive Care Unit Recognized for 20 Years of Service Dinner and Years of Service Ceremony Planned LIVINGSTON, NJ -- For the past 20 years, The Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Saint Barnabas Medical Center has served as an emergency response unit that currently provides advanced life support to the residents of Livingston, Roseland, West Orange, South Orange, Short Hills, Millburn, Maplewood and surrounding areas as necessary. MICU services are dispatched simultaneously with local first aid squads or Fire Departments for emergencies such as Chest Pain, Shortness of Breath, Severe Trauma, Diabetic emergencies, Unconscious Patients and Drowning/Near Drowning. The MICU is staffed at all times by two New Jersey State certified Mobile Intensive Care Paramedics. Once they arrive at the scene of an emergency, they perform a complete history and physical, initiate the appropriate treatment, contact the physician at the Emergency Room, and together they formulate a treatment plan for a patient’s continued care while en route to the hospital. In short, the MICU essentially bring the emergency room to the scene of a life-threatening emergency. In honor of the 20th Anniversary of the MICU at Saint Barnabas Medical, a dinner and Years of Service Ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2001, at The Mayfair Farms in West Orange, NJ. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., and dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for a cost of $50, and can be purchased by calling (973) 322-4322.
