Toms River, NJ -- A rainy
day did not soak the spirits of the Ocean County
PBA as it hosted its 2nd annual Hospice and Poker
Run in memory of Senior Correction Office, Barbara
Catenacci, Badge 101. Through intermittent
downpours the dedicated group of more than 40
motorcycle enthusiasts enjoyed a bike run, pig
roast, door prizes, 50/50 raffle and entertainment – all
of which resulted in a $1,000 donation to benefit
patients and families served by Van Dyke Hospice
and Palliative Care Center at Community Medical
Center in Toms River.
Since 2008, Cpl. Jim Merrell of the Ocean County
Corrections Department has organized the event
in memory of his partner, Barbara, who received
end-of-life care from Van Dyke. This year’s
donation doubled that of the previous event and
Cpl. Merrell is already making plans for the
2010 Run.

run which started in Manchester and concluded at
