Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the procedure take?

Special procedures range from 1 to 3 hours. Post- procedure care is also planned by the radiologist and nurse. Patients are monitored in the Same Day Surgery Unit for a prescribed time, depending on the type of procedure performed.

Will I be given a contrast agent?

Contrast agents are routinely used in several interventional procedures, especially those that involve the diagnosis or treatment of vascular disease.  On rare occasions the contrast agent may cause an allergic reaction.  Patients must inform their physician and the radiology staff of prior allergic reactions and certain medical conditions.

Are there any preparations before this procedure?

Preparations depend on the type of procedure performed. A member of the staff will call the patient the day/evening before the exam to give specific instructions.
