The center provides the most advanced non-invasive cardiac and coronary
computed tomographic (CT) angiography with a 64-detector
CT scanner, as well as courses for cardiologists
that meet many of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography’s
requirements for Level I and Level II certification in this emerging
technology. Coronary CT angiography provides early detection of coronary
artery atherosclerotic plaques; is the most sensitive non-invasive tool
for the detection of coronary artery stenosis; and provides an alternative
method to traditional catheterization coronary
angiography before valve surgery. Cardiac CT angiography is an important
tool in the evaluation of complex congenital heart disease and anatomy,
pericardial disease, aortic valve stenosis and cardiac mass or tumor.
The technology can significantly improve pre-operative surgical planning.
