Paul G. Burns, MD, Director of Cardiac Surgery at Saint
Barnabas Medical Center, joined the Saint Barnabas Health
Care System Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2001.
Dr. Burns is a graduate of Princeton University and received
his medical degree from Columbia University, NY. He completed
his general surgery residency at Deaconess Hospital, Harvard
Medical School in Boston, MA, and his residency in cardiothoracic
surgery at The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical School
in New York City. Prior to joining the cardiothoracic surgery
staff at Saint Barnabas, Dr. Burns was in private practice
in Towson, MD.
Dr. Burns is board certified in general surgery and thoracic
surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association,
the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College
of Surgeons. Dr. Burns has special interest in off-pump coronary
artery bypass graft surgery. He is co-author of numerous
articles published in professional publications including Annals
of Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Forum.
