Massage Therapy

Massage is the therapeutic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. It is a powerful science that has been used for centuries as an integral part of the healing process. Massage provides health-related benefits that affect the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems of the body. Bodywork modalities help to improve muscle tone, enhance flexibility and circulation, and relieve the stress and tensions associated with everyday living. Massage and Bodywork Therapies available include:

  • Neuromuscular Massage:  A deep tissue massage in which fingers are used to kneed muscles. This increases blood flow and releases pain and tension at specific trigger points.
  • Sports Massage:  A massage designed to reduce potential injuries, enhance performance, alleviate inflammation and promote healing following an injury.
  • Swedish Massage:  A massage that relaxes muscles, and eases aches and pains by increasing body fluid circulation. This is the most widely used form of massage.
  • Trager Massage:  A gentle touch massage with rhythmic rocking movements. This relaxes the mind and body, thus helping to release physical and mental patterns, initiating a deep state of relaxation.
  • Reflexology:  The manipulation of specific areas of the feet and hands to stimulate corresponding tissues and organs in the body, thereby promoting healing.
