
Director, Pediatric Neurology
Co-Director, Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
Dr. Aviva Boyko is board certified in pediatrics with special qualifications
in child neurology. After receiving her medical education in Italy at
the University of Chieti and the University of Rome La Sapienza, she
completed an internship at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv
University, Israel, before coming to the United States. Once in the
U.S., she completed a pediatric residency at UMDNJ and The New York
Hospital-Cornell University Medical College, followed by a residency
in child neurology at The New York Hospital/Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center-Cornell University Medical College, and a fellowship in
clinical neurophysiology at Montefiore Medical Center-Albert Einstein
College of Medicine. Dr. Bojko is a member of the Israel Medical Association,
the American Epilepsy Society and the Child Neurology Society.
Director, Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery
Dr. Devinsky is an internationally recognized neurologist,
lecturer and author. He is a Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery and
Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine and is also Director
of the NYU/Mount Sinai Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. Dr. Devinsky received
his medical degree form Harvard Medical School and is board certified
in neurology and neurophysiology. His major research interest is epilepsy
and he is a preeminent leader in furthering research into the surgical
treatment of epilepsy as well as developing new antiepileptic drugs.
Dr. Devinsky has authored over 15 professional books including the definitive
lay person’s book about epilepsy, “A Guide to Understanding & Living
With Epilepsy.”

Director, Epilepsy Surgery Center
Dr. Werner K. Doyle has over 15 years experience as
a surgeon and neurosurgeon and is also the Director of the Epilepsy,
Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery Program at New York University
School of Medicine. His specialty interests include epilepsy surgery,
stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
Dr. Doyle has helped to pioneer computerized three-dimensional imaging
in the operating room to make surgeries safer and more effective. He
received his medical degree from Columbia University and completed his
neurosurgical residency at New York University and a Fellowship in Epilepsy
Surgery at Yale Medical School.

Director, Adult Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
Dr. Geller is a nationally recognized epileptologist and is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. He joined Saint Barnabas in 1998 from the internationally acclaimed Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was a member of the Department of Neurology, Section of Epilepsy and Sleep Disorders and Head of the Intra-operative Monitoring and Evoked Potentials Program. Dr. Geller’s major research interest includes epilepsy surgery and diagnostic testing as well as treatments of epilepsy including the vagus nerve stimulator, an implantable system designed to prevent or stop certain kinds of seizures. He is principal investigator for the Neuropace Responsive Neurostimulator System trial at Saint Barnabas and co-investigator on the Epilepsy Phenome-Genome Project. Dr. Geller received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and medical degree from Brown University. He did his neurology residency at Harvard Medical School and his epilepsy fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He has been named as a Top Doctor in the NY Metro Area in the Castle Connolly survey since 2004 and by New York Magazine. Dr. Geller is also the chairman of the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey Professional Advisory Board, and a member of the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Bio-ethics Committee.

Director of the Pediatric Comprehensive Epilepsy
Center
Dr. Goldberg is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Neurology with added
qualifications in child neurology and clinical neurophysiology. Her
research interests include the EEG abnormalities of autistic and language
impaired children. She completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology
and in pediatric neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She
did her Pediatric Residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Prior
to attending medical school, Dr. Goldberg received bachelors and masters
degrees from M.I.T. in electrical engineering.
Medical Director, Kazmir Center for Sleep Disorders
Dr. Mangala Nadkarni, a board-certified physician in neurology, clinical
neurophysiology and sleep medicine, leads the physician team at The
Kazmir Center for Sleep Disorders and Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
She has extensive training and experience in the field of epilepsy as
well as sleep medicine. Dr. Nadkarni completed residency training in
neurology at the University of Dentistry and Medicine of New Jersey,
performed an epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology fellowship at New
York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, and completed a post-graduate
course in sleep medicine at Stanford School of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Nadkarni
is a fellow in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and serves on
New Jersey Sleep Society and the Professional Advisory Board of the
Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey. She has co-authored articles that
have appeared in prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals.

Director, Saint Barnabas Multiple Sclerosis
Care Center
Joseph Herbert, M.D., has served as director of the multiple sclerosis
program at Columbia University’s Helen Hayes Hospital and is currently
the director of the NYU Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center
and Neurorehabilitation Program. Dr. Herbert is board
certified in neurology and is nationally recognized for his clinical
and research contributions to the care and rehabilitation of patients
with demyelinating disorders. He has been pivotal in
the development of symptomatic therapies for multiple sclerosis and
participates in several clinical trials of new treatments for this disorder.
Pediatric Neurologist
Director of the Pediatric Developmental Center
Dr. Lara Elizabeth Morse is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Tufts
University School of Medicine. She completed her
general pediatric training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, NH,
and then went on to complete a residency in pediatric and adult neurology
at Tufts New England Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children in
Boston, MA. In addition, she completed a pediatric-epilepsy fellowship
at Tufts-New England Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Chldren. She
is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy
Society, the Child Neurology Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Goldenberg is the Clinical Coordinator of the Video EEG program at SBMC. She has over 25 years of experience in neurology nursing. She received her Master of Science degree from Seton Hall University, and received her Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Saint Louis University. She is certified as an Adult and as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has chaired committees and has presented at international conferences and is currently the Chairperson of the Advance Practice Council at SBMC. She has published extensively in professional nursing journals.
Neurologist
Dr. Judith Lustig received her medical degree from Albert Einstein
College of Medicine, in New York where she was honored with the Alpha
Omega Alpha award. She completed her neurology residency at Montefiore
Medical Center where she was selected to serve as Chief Resident. She
is fellowship trained in electrodiagnostic medicine and has extensive
experience in treating all facets of adult neurological disorders. Dr.
Lustig is board certified in neurology and electrodiagnosis and has
a special interest in peripheral neurology. She has been a co-investigator
on numerous research studies in the neurosciences.

Neuropsychologist
Dr. Santschi is a licensed neuropsychologist who received her doctorate
degree from City University of New York and completed a one-year internship
at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Hillside Hospital and a two-year
post doctorate fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases/New York
University Medical Center. The Adult and Pediatric Neuropsychology Program,
under Dr. Santschi’s direction, is designed to provide information
about the nature and extent of cognitive dysfunction, which helps diagnose
a disorder and monitor therapy. Dr. Santschi also collaborates in ongoing
multi-center NIH-funded research studying emotional processing in temporal
lobe epilepsy.

Neurologist
Dr. Widdess-Walsh is a neurologist and epilepsy specialist, board certified
in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology with Special Competency in
Epilepsy Monitoring. He is Assistant Professor of Neurology (Research)
at the NYU School of Medicine. He is actively involved in epilepsy research
as site principal investigator of the Epilepsy Phenome Genome Project
and as an investigator in the Neuropace Responsive Neurostimulation
trial. His research interests also include epilepsy surgery, cortical
dysplasia, and brain malformations causing epilepsy. He has published
articles in major scientific journals such as Neurology, Brain, and
Epilepsy Research. Dr. Widdess-Walsh directs the magnetoencephalography
(MEG) program at Saint Barnabas. He received his medical degree from
the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland followed by an Internal
Medicine Residency and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians
in Ireland (MRCP). He completed residency and fellowship training in
neurology, neurophysiology, EEG and epilepsy at the Cleveland Clinic,
Ohio.
