For adults with cancer and blood disorders, The
Frederick B. Cohen, MD, Cancer & Blood Disorder Center at Newark
Beth Israel Medical Center serves the greater Newark
and Northern New Jersey area providing expertise
in the treatment of
solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, coagulation
disorders and sickle cell disease. Supported
by a multidisciplinary team including nurses, social workers and
nutritionists, patients are offered the latest treatments and clinical
trials as part of our membership in NSABP, ECOG, and Moffitt Cancer
Center trials.
The services in our Center include our 10-chair infusion area equipped
with television access, for patients to receive outpatient chemotherapy,
targeted biologic therapies and treatments for many other blood disorders.
Our facility also houses our exam room suites so that patients can see
their physicians and receive treatment in close proximity to one another.
We also have on site laboratory services for our patient’s convenience
as well as a dedicated medication preparation area to support our oncology
patients and facilitate their treatments.
For children, The
Valerie Fund Children’s Centers for
Cancer & Blood Disorders found at Monmouth
Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint
Barnabas Medical Center offer comprehensive medical services
to children, adolescents and young adults (from birth to age 21) with
leukemia and other cancers, and blood disorders, such as sickle cell
anemia, thalassemia and thrombocytopenia.
Our team approach ensures that all children receive compassionate,
technologically advanced care throughout all aspects of their diagnosis
and treatment. Our excellent staff is comprised of three hematologists/oncologists,
as well as pediatric nurses, therapists, and a child life specialist
and social worker. These professionals work together so that all children
and families feel cared for and comfortable during their time in our
Center.
Our experienced physicians have been recognized for excellence in their
field, with countless publications in professional journals. In addition
to their academic and professional achievements, our medical team shares
a love of children and commitment to improving the health of their patients.
