Kidney transplant recipients are experiencing an improved quality of life, independent of dialysis and its restrictions, through living or deceased donor donation programs that consistently achieve outstanding success rates at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

The Renal and Pancreas Transplant Program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is constantly striving to serve our patients with quality health care and education. As part of this ongoing effort, we are pleased to present the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Symposium for Patients and Families.

The purpose of this symposium is to provide continuing education and information to patients and families about transplantation. The transplant team welcomes and encourages dialysis patients and their family members, in addition to dialysis center staff, to attend this educational program to learn more about the option of transplantation.

This program is created specifically to address questions that you may have regarding the option of transplantation and discuss recent advances made in the field. We invite you to join our team for this informal education seminar to learn more about current trends in the field including advances in surgery and transplant medicines. Separate sessions in English and Spanish will be presented during this time.

About the Renal and Pancreas Transplant Program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

The Renal and Pancreas Transplant Division, located at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Medical Center, form one of the largest programs among 240 in the country with more than 270 transplant surgeries performed each year. Since the program began nearly 40 years ago, it has remained a leader in the field and pioneered a series of medical firsts in New Jersey. Among them, the first living donor kidney transplant program, paired kidney exchange, the program for incompatible transplantation and robotic-assisted donor nephrectomy. Our program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center was recently featured in the New Jersey Star Ledger for participating in a groundbreaking six-way renal transplant chain, involving six living donors and six recipients, one of the two largest transplant chains ever performed in the United States.
