is dedicated to providing nurturing care to children
facing an array of medical challenges. Our expert
pediatric hematologists/oncologists, specially
trained advanced practice pediatric hematology/oncology
nurses, nurse clinicians, registered nurses,
social workers and child life/play therapists
work together to provide the latest advances
and most compassionate medical care in a soothing
environment.
- The Centers, part of the largest consortium of centers treating
children with blood disorders and cancers in the U.S., provide services
including on-site laboratory and imaging services to ensure comfort
and minimize travel time. Patients have access to inpatient services
at all three hospital sites including Pediatric Intensive Care units,
pediatric general surgery, pediatric urology, ENT, Radiology, Radiation
therapy, etc.
- The psychosocial needs of children and families
are vitally important in the overall treatment,
and we offer child life therapy, social service
counseling and monthly support groups for pediatric
oncology and sickle cell patients to meet these
needs.
- As a member in the Saint Barnabas Health Care
System, we have state and federally funded pediatric
and adult regional hemophilia and thrombophilia
programs as well as comprehensive Sickle Cell
and Thalassemia services. This gives us the unique
opportunity to transition our adolescent hematology
and sickle cell patients to adult services when
necessary.
